Easter in Poland

Its Good Friday and snowing outside so, with the flowers out, it is an interesting mix of winter and spring! Today is a normal work day in Poland, although if you are Protestant the law allows for having the day off. Tomorrow people take baskets with painted eggs, ham, salt, pepper, bread and other goodies to be blessed. During lent strict Catholics fast so on Easter Sunday the breakfast feast is a highlight. It is a family event-after which people go to Church. Monday is also know as Wet Monday-basically a big water fight!!! So if you need to go outside-Watch Out!!!!

Not much chocolate around, there are christmas style decorations but they are from German traditions, not Polish.

The best thing about Easter where the pre Easter classes! What fun to openly share the Gospel in class!! There where some awesome responses-so please pray for softening of hearts and further opportunities for deeper conversations.

Another thing I have really enjoyed this week was the combined Churches service. About 400 people from 10 different Churches came together to worship Christ! It was a really encouaging day.

Blessing to you and your families at Easter!

Gods Divine Appointments!

This week a team came to share the Gospel through music. Spending time praying with the team has been such an encouragement! Also one of the girls came to Europe planning to spend at least 6 months here and was praying God would open the right doors. Well, she majored in English and LOVES it, has a passion for Christ and is taking on the classes that my housemate had. Plus she will be filling the gap Becky leaves in our home!! Is that a prayer answered or what! Praise God!

With Easter coming up there are many opportunities to share Christ with the students-so continue to pray for their salvation. There is an ongoing excitment in working for God, so long as the focus is kept on him....... otherwise it is just plain hard work.

Also we made a mistake tonight-we took some students to see a movie which they had chosen-it was pg and we asked some people who had seen it and they told us it was a good film. Well, it wasn't. Nothing edifying or wholesome about it. It really was filling our minds with awful things. We wondered if we should just leave early but hoped it would redeem itself. It didn't. So I will apologise to the students next week-I am thankful for Gods grace when we fall short but really sorry that it happened.

On a lighter note-one of the American team visiting was saying how she had a deep desire to be famous only she knew God things where more important but sometimes it was a struggle to put that first-well she is going to be interviewed and on Prime time tv in Poland! God really does know the desires of our hearts!!

God knows

just how much someone can handle! Camp was great. My Polish improved and I built good friendships just by being willing to play with the children. And then having 6 days with Australian friends left me feeling refreshed and ready for semester 2. Holidays were also good to bring me back into routine. During term I had been staying up late and sleeping in but during the holidays I had to ger up early every day except one!!! With Spring coming on and longer days that has been easier to continue.

Life feels different now but I am happy with the changes. I have more ministry opportunities than I can take on and feel like God is giving me the strength to do as many as I do. One of the teachers is leaving at Easter so people are feeling added stress but I am certain God will either provide a new teacher or give the strength for people to take on extra classes. Also the school director is resigning at the end of the school year-so lots more changes. But God is in control!
